Freight News | Xi’an–Almaty Cargo Route Re-launches, B757-200F Supports China–Central Asia Trade Connectivity

On April 25, a Boeing 757-200F all-cargo aircraft operated by Northwest Cargo Airlines departed from Xi’an Airport to Almaty, Kazakhstan’s largest city, marking the re-launch of the Xi’an–Almaty cargo route.

The flight carried manufactured goods from Shaanxi’s key industries, including pharmaceuticals and automotive components. Through an integrated “air–land multimodal, one-stop customized service”, the operation connects regional industrial strengths with market demand along the Belt and Road countries, supporting local enterprises in expanding their international footprint.

In recent years, Xi’an Airport has continued to strengthen its westward international air network development, becoming one of the first airports in China to achieve full coverage of the “five Central Asian countries and eight cities”. It has built an efficient cargo transport system combining freighter services and passenger belly capacity, providing tailored logistics solutions for enterprises in Northwest China and beyond.

Through measures such as cargo zone expansion, process optimization, and capability upgrades, Xi’an Airport has further enhanced its service capacity and operational efficiency. Currently, it operates 12 international all-cargo routes covering major economies across Asia, Europe, and the Americas. As of April 15, international cargo volume at Xi’an Airport reached 28,700 tons, up 94.6% year-on-year.
