Freight News | JD Airlines Launches “Zhuhai–Cebu” International Cargo Route

On March 29, JD Airlines officially launched its “Zhuhai–Cebu” international cargo route. The route is operated by a B737-800 freighter and is initially scheduled to run two flights per week, primarily carrying cross-border e-commerce shipments. This marks another key expansion of Zhuhai Jinwan Airport’s international cargo network, following its previously launched routes to Delhi, India, and Clark, Philippines.

Cebu, the second-largest city in the Philippines and a major economic hub in the central region, enables the new route to extend coverage from Luzon’s Clark to the central island groups, achieving comprehensive access to the country’s major economic zones and e-commerce markets. Currently, Zhuhai Jinwan Airport has formed an international cargo network featuring a “Delhi trunk line + dual Philippine high-frequency points,” with a total of 12 weekly international all-cargo flights. The airport is accelerating the development of a “4-hour air logistics circle” covering Southeast Asia.

According to Xue Shuting, General Manager of Zhuhai Airport Air Harbor International Smart Logistics Company under Zhuhai Transportation Holding Group, the Philippines’ e-commerce market exceeded USD 20 billion in 2025. The expansion of this route will provide Greater Bay Area enterprises with delivery efficiency of “same-day dispatch, next-day delivery to the Philippines.” The high-frequency network is expected to help reduce logistics costs and enhance the competitiveness of “Made in China” in Southeast Asia.

It is projected that with further route increases, Zhuhai Airport’s monthly international cargo throughput may exceed 2,000 tons starting in April, with cumulative throughput expected to surpass 15,000 tons by the end of August, laying a solid foundation for the airport’s official port opening. Since obtaining provisional approval for international cargo operations in August 2025, Zhuhai Jinwan Airport has been accelerating its development into a regional air cargo hub serving western Guangdong, the Greater Bay Area, and Southeast Asia.
